The Medical profession maintains the stance that personal insolvency is unlikely to affect a Practitioner's medical competence. As a result an insolvent Doctor, Vet or Pharmacist will not suffer compulsory exclusion on declaration of bankrupt and will only be excluded from their profession where there is evidence of some related professional misconduct.
The British Dental Association does not have any specific guidelines relating to the subject of members’ bankruptcy, although membership will cease when a Dentist is no longer registered with the British Dental Council. This Council does not cancel registration for personal insolvency unless other examples of misconduct are discovered.
